Any vaccine against the new type of coronavirus should be considered a “global public good,” French President Emmanuel Macron said during an international donor conference to support efforts to develop the vaccine, the dpa reported Monday.

The vaccine should be “offered to the entire planet by the organization of our choice,” Macron said, warning that the world is “in a race against the clock” to save lives, writes agerpres.ro.

“Faced with COVID-19, ‘each for himself’ would be the biggest mistake,” said Emmanuel Macron, adding that the current crisis can only be overcome together.

The French head of state pledged € 500 million to support funding for efforts to find a vaccine, in addition to supplementing funding from the World Health Organization, while Germany provided € 525 million.
