Elon Musk is working on a project that could make the speech disappear. How long could it come true?

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk said he is working on a technology that could make human language obsolete in just five years, reports The Independent.

The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX made this prediction for the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, during a discussion about his neurotechnology company, Neuralink, according to Agerpres.

Musk expressed hope that his neurotechnology company can connect a Neuralink device to a human brain for the first time next year.

The battery-powered chip will be implanted in the skull and the associated electrodes will be inserted into the brain “with great care.”

“It can be inserted anywhere in the brain, so it could be something that would help heal vision problems,” Musk said. “In principle, it can solve almost anything that is wrong with the brain,” added the businessman.

Although the first-generation devices will focus on treating brain damage and disorders, Musk said they will be able to do much more later.

“He won’t have to talk,” Musk said, adding that we could still do it “for sentimental reasons.”

“You will be able to communicate very quickly and with much more precision … I’m not sure what will happen with the language. In a situation like this, I think it would be like in ‘The Matrix’. Do you want to speak in another language? No problem, just download the program. “

Asked how long it will be before his company develops enough technology to make this happen, Musk calculated that in five to ten years, “if development continues to accelerate.”

Musk announced in 2017 the establishment of the Neuralink project aimed at developing an interface that connects the brain of the computer, with applicability in several areas.

Last summer, Musk announced that the Neuralink project could be tested on humans for the first time this year. “We can create a complete brain-machine interface,” he said at an event at the California Academy of Sciences where the billionaire and members of the Neuralink team made a presentation on the state of their research. The project can “achieve a kind of symbiosis with artificial intelligence,” said Musk.
