Drift of a well-known journalist: COVID-19 patients will be received at ATI according to Facebook posts – News from sources

Journalist Dan Turturică, former editor-in-chief of the publication “România liberă” and of the website digi24.ro, has launched a scandalous proposal. He wants the implementation of a “thinking police” system based on which patients with severe forms of COVID-19 are admitted or not admitted to intensive care.

“Yes, I know, it is not very Christian, but it does not seem like a bad idea that admission to Intensive Care is decided based on Facebook posts on the subject of COVID, pre-illness,” Turturică writes on Facebook.

In Romania, freedom of expression is guaranteed by article 30 of the Constitution and article 34 establishes that the right to medical care is guaranteed. According to art. 29 par. (1) of Law 46/2003, if medical service providers are obliged to resort to the selection of patients for certain types of treatment that are available in limited quantities, the selection is made solely on the basis of medical criteria.

More worrying is that these extremist discourses are found in some parts of the medical world. For example, the manager of the “Victor Babeș” Hospital in Timișoara, Cristian Oancea, sent a message on Thursday to those who ridicule health protection measures. “To be treated with alternative therapies, not to be a burden on the health system,” the doctor told Digi24.
