The Ministry of Health advises that valve masks are not recommended for the population to avoid the spread of SARS-CoV-2. These masks are intended for medical and industrial workers, to avoid breathing dust and particles, closing the valve when inhaling. Instead, the valve opens upon expiration, allowing viruses to pass outside. The warning from the Health Ministry comes in the conditions in which the police discovered that fake valve masks were delivered to the “Victor Babeș” Hospital in Timișoara.
According to a Facebook post from the Ministry of Health, international organizations recommend that these valve masks not be used in a pandemic due to the risk of spreading SARS-CoV-2 virus particles, leading to the possibility of infecting others. .
The recommended types of masks are:
✔️ Masks that completely cover the nose and mouth;
✔️ Cloth masks with at least two layers, which can be washed and reused;
✔️ Masks that have a metal wire at the height of the nose and therefore do not let air escape through the upper part of the mask;
✔️ Masks that sit well on the sides of the face and have no gaps where particles can enter / remove.
The Ministry of Health also indicates two links to WHO, namely the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, which makes these recommendations regarding valve masks.

On Monday, in the first hour, the investigators went to the headquarters of some companies suspected of selling, with hard money, non-conforming masks to the “Victor Babeș” Hospital in Timișoara. The raids were scheduled after three months in which the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police collected evidence from the complaint made by the hospital itself.

Medical personnel have warned of how dangerous it is to work in the COVID red zone without effective equipment.
“We work hard, we make efforts to save lives, I can’t imagine it, I don’t think anyone in science wants to make someone sick or even kill them.” It was probably a product error, “says Virgil Musta, a doctor at the” Victor Babeș “Hospital in Timișoara.
The mask business was designed by six people, say police from the Economic Crimes Investigation Directorate. The six suspects ran six companies with different offices through which they delivered counterfeit products to various hospital units.
The Timișoara hospital paid € 120,000 for the masks that are now under investigation.
In Timiș county, Timioara, Giroc and Dumbrăvița were searched. The suspects were brought to police hearings and prosecutors issued various pieces of evidence.
Earlier this month, the administrator of another company that received millions of lei for the sale of masks to UNIFARM was also charged with fraud, after medical personnel complained about the poor quality of the products.
