Don’t make plans for Christmas!

Another 3,855 Romanians were infected with the new coronavirus, from yesterday to today. And in intensive care units there are a record number of patients. For the first time, the number of Romanians in serious condition exceeds 800. More precisely, at this moment, 828 people are fighting for their lives. In the counties of Alba, Cluj, Harghita, Sălaj and in the Capital, the contagion rate is high, more than three cases per thousand inhabitants. Well, in all this context, Dr. Virgil Musta tells us: Don’t make Christmas plans!

Virgil Musta: It bothers us that unfortunately there are also irresponsible people who do not want to follow the rules, even if we are in such a difficult situation.

In Timișoara we no longer have space in ATI. Any new case will be transferred to another county, our hospital is full. There are a few more places in the COVID support hospitals.

The severe forms are very difficult to place in a hospital where we have pressurized oxygen. We are in a critical situation and the pandemic continues to grow.

This wheel that rolls over us cannot be stopped if we are not responsible and if we do not strictly follow the rules.

A dead ATI patient can mean the possibility of another patient releasing a bed. I have witnessed such a situation. A tragic and worrying situation, and the environment that was on guard said that they never want to live such an experience again.

I still have hope because we have to fight together, to win this very difficult war and unfortunately we see more difficulties than we would have expected.

A mathematical calculation shows that in a week, two of us will end up with no more places in hospitals. Only if we make a “stop game” of tomorrow, that is, everyone should wear a mask on every contact, with anyone, and then maybe we won’t get contaminated. We must be responsible, aware of the importance of wearing a mask and of social distance, because without these measures the number of cases will increase.

Also the mathematics, the statistics, show that in this large number of cases there are a large number of very critical cases and deaths in ATI.

I don’t think we’re going to have winter break, and I don’t think we can celebrate the dead or celebrate in a situation where a lot of people are sick.

We will stay on duty and spend the holidays in hospitals, and the others will not be able to enjoy the parties, because all places will be closed and all events restricted.
