Timisoara City Council was on the verge of running out of power after unpaid bills of two million lei were collected, says Mayor Dominic Fritz. According to the mayor, the bills of more than 150,000 lei were not even recorded in the accounts of the Timişoara City Council.

“I was surprised by a summons to cut the power supply because the bills were not paid. There are two million lei bills, unpaid bills, for electricity at the Timişoara City Hall. Some are not due, but many are. I also found out that the 153,000 lei bills, from April to June, were not even registered. Facts that nobody here knew I found in recent days. Of course, we will pay these bills and the power will not go out, “said Dominic Fritz.

The mayor of Timisoara also stated that the previous administration has committed to spending without financial coverage. Fritz said that for this reason he ordered the cessation of an auction of 18 million lei for the award of cleaning services in the Timişoara City Council. In addition, another auction, also for 18 million lei, was stopped for a parking lot on Take Ionescu Boulevard.

Dominic Fritz also said that he is considering the proposal to revoke a decision of the City Council on the purchase of a building from RATT, also due to lack of money. “We are in a challenging financial situation. We will have to rethink a decision. In September, the City Council made the decision to buy a building for the Municipal Hospital. The decision stipulates that half of the value, two million lei, must be paid this year. We do not have this money in the budget, so we will have to analyze what we do with this HCL and see if we can conclude this contract because I did not find these two million lei with which we should pay the first installment of this year ”, Fritz also said. The mayor said that he has to pay the bills based on the amount of money in the account in the morning.
