Timişoara Mayor-elect Dominic Fritz announced on Thursday that he is willing to make an alliance with PSD or Pro Romania, if PNL does not respond to his ultimatum on an alliance with USR-PLUS in Timişoara Local Council and County Council from Timiş.
“I said that by Monday night I would like to know very clearly if the PNL, under Nica’s leadership, wants to make a majority with us in the Local Council and the Provincial Council. If they come back after Monday night and say they don’t want to, I will have to consider other options. I’m very curious what Mr. Nica is thinking, who he wants to get the most with, what the other options are. I remain confident that we can reach a conclusion, but from today those of us who want a policy based on transparency, on principles, must be even more careful. (…) At the moment it is up to Mr. Nica if he wants PSD or PRO Romania to be part of the government. He is the only one who decides. (…) I will start talking to everyone who was voted by the people of Timisoara, including the councilors who are part of PSD and PRO Romania. I will analyze the situation on Monday night ”, declared Dominic Fritz, according to the publication Opinia Timișoara.
Belligerent statements made on Wednesday by USR leader Cătălin Drulă set off the PNL-USR alliance in Timiș and Timișoara. The Liberals said they were offended by Drula, who had said that USR would no longer agree to form a government with NLP if Ludovic Orban was also prime minister, and interrupted negotiations for the County Council, negotiations led by USR exactly by Cătălin Drulă.
