Authorities are now verifying whether the doctor contracted the virus before the trip, as well as the people who were in contact with the doctor, including those on board the bus with which he was traveling to Palermo.
The director of a clinic in Rome, Patrizia Laurenti, said that the second dose of the vaccine is essential. Basically, without the second dose, the vaccine is useless.
“Full coverage is achieved fifteen days after the second administration. Antibodies start to be produced even after the first dose, but a second dose is needed to achieve an effective level of protection, and after 15 days there is almost complete certainty that we are protected by Covid ”, said Patrizia Laurenti.
Most likely, the Syracuse doctor was already in the incubation phase when he received the first dose of the vaccine.
