Former PSD deputy Cristian Rizea fled in the Republic of Moldova, after being sentenced to 4 years and 8 months in prison, he is about to be extradited. The announcement was made by President Igor Dodon, who claims that Rizea’s Moldovan citizenship can be revoked if it was obtained illegally.

“I, as president, found out for the first time. What’s next? Now it will be verified, but we see that he has violated, all the circumstances will be verified, citizenship will be annulled and this person will be extradited to the Romanian security forces. And if he took advantage of the protection of the old oligarchic regime in Chisinau and obtained citizenship illegally, this citizenship will be revoked and we will extradite him back to Romania and do whatever you want with him! ”Said Igor Dodon, who is on the campaign trail, running for a new term as president.

Cristian Rizea has been under international investigation since March 19, 2019. He was definitively convicted by the Superior Court of Cassation and Justice for influence peddling and money laundering, after requesting and receiving a bribe of 300,000 euros from a man of deal.

The former deputy had fled the country two months before the verdict. He was captured in Chisinau and the Bucharest Ministry of Justice sent the extradition request there.

Cristian Rizea received Moldovan citizenship in 2018.
