Cosmin Boiangiu, Romania’s deputy permanent representative to the EU, won a competition for an important leadership position at the European level, that of executive director of the European Labor Authority, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban said Thursday at the start of the meeting of the Government. He said he was in competition with representatives from countries such as Spain, Poland and Finland.
In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bogdan Aurescu, affirmed that there were four rounds of voting in the steering committee of the European Labor Authority.
“It was an extremely intense effort that was carried out recently, even today, with political-diplomatic steps being taken at the level of representation, at the level of capitals in the member states,” Aurescu said.
He also said that in the end, Cosmin Boiangiu won the position 25 to 4, “which is a great success for Romania, for Romanian diplomacy.”
Cosmin Boiangiu was Ambassador to Slovenia during 2012-2016, and for the last four years he has served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Romania’s Representation to the EU.
