The resignation of Olguța Vasilescu’s henchman, one day after he was sworn in and elected secretary of the Craiova City Council Legal Commission, came at a time of extreme tension. NLP councilor Dan Diaconu sided with the PSD and thus changed the majority, helping the Social Democrats win both positions of deputy mayor. Soon after, the counselor was fired.
According to the law, a local councilor can have his political support withdrawn from the party on whose list he ran, which carries his right to resign.
