Pomohaci, a former priest and singer of folk and religious music, was sentenced to prison for tax evasion.
The former priest was definitively sentenced to one year in prison with suspension because he rented 11 apartments, but without paying taxes, according to Reporteris.ro.
Cristian Pomohaci cheated the state with 150,000 euros, not paying the taxes for the rented apartments.
In addition to the fact that he was sentenced to prison for tax evasion, he will also have to work for the benefit of the unpaid community, for 90 days for the benefit of the Rebrişoara City Council and follow more social reintegration programs.
Pomohaci would own 25 apartments, 9 building plots, 5 land plots and a garage. 40 buildings in total.
What the Court of Appeal says
The Târgul Mureș Court of Appeal decided to uphold his initial sentence, but he will nevertheless be able to leave the country (before being obliged to stay in the country).
“During the inspection period, the accused must only comply with the following obligation: attend one or more social reintegration programs carried out by the probation service or organized with community institutions.
Based on art. 93 par. 3 of the Penal Code, during the supervision period, the defendant will perform unpaid work for a period of 90 days within or for the benefit of the Rebrişoara City Council, Bistriţa-Năsăud County, or within the Miercurea Nirajului City Council, Mureş County .
