Vaccination against COVID is contraindicated in people with possible allergic reactions and in people who are treated with anticoagulants, but in the case of the latter category there are solutions, says military doctor Valeriu Gheorghiță, coordinator of the national vaccination campaign against COVID.
Regarding severely immunosuppressed patients, such as people with HIV / AIDS who are not therapeutically controlled, Gheorghiță says that the vaccine is not contraindicated in their case, but will generate a weak immune response. But the mere presence of the disease is not a contraindication to vaccination.
The other categories of chronic diseases are not mentioned as contraindications to the COVID vaccine.
Romania aims to vaccinate 60% -70% of the population, around 13 million Romanians, against COVID-19 in the first 6 months of the vaccination campaign, Valeriu Gheorghiță announced on Friday.
“If we have 60-70% of the immunized population, we can ensure the beginning of the end of the pandemic. We will be able to return to the life and normality that we knew,” said Dr. Valeriu Gheorghiță. Valeriu Gheorghiță presented, on Friday afternoon, the vaccination strategy in Romania, at a press conference at the end of the government meeting.
