Prof. Dr. Virgil Păunescu, director of the OncoGen Medical Research Institute, and his team are working on a Romanian vaccine against COVID-19. The vaccine, which is being tested, will be produced in collaboration with the Cantacuzino Institute in Bucharest.
At one point, during an interview with DCNews and DCMedical, Virgil Păunescu said that he was vaccinated.
“Did you self-vaccinate with a vaccine with these 11 peptides?” Asked Irinel Popescu.
“No, I was afraid to get vaccinated with 11 peptides, I was vaccinated with two. I did HLA, which is the immunological profile. To close an epidemic, 60 percent of the population must be vaccinated. Our coverage is 95, 96 percent. I wanted to do the HLA so as not to fall into the two percent that does not have a correspondent in these peptides. And I was vaccinated with two peptides. (…) The first problem was, being a completely new technology, the correct dose . (…) I dissolved them in dimethyl sulfoxide and vitamin A. I think the dose was a bit high. I got vaccinated with 100 micrograms. Four drops. I realized from the first moment that the dose is a bit high because dimethyl sulfoxide is irritating and had a burning sensation in my nose. You don’t know what, but normally you shouldn’t feel anything. The next day, muscle and joint pains started that I had to deal with. Not very big. Lasted five days. Me, every day and before, I did every day as much analysis set as possible s in a normal clinical laboratory, plus the analyzes in a research laboratory, ”explained Virgil Păunescu.
“After five days, all my symptoms passed. The second vaccination is a month away. But we were late and I got vaccinated for two weeks for the second time. This time, I put a drop, a quarter of the first dose. I didn’t have any irritation. At dusk, muscle aches, joint aches. It lasted about three days. “
