The story of a bar owner who managed to cheat restrictions on bars went viral in Italy, sparking heated controversy on social media, reports tgcom24.it quoted by Mediafax.

The man closes his bar at midnight, as required by regulations, and reopens it after 15 minutes, since there are no opening hours in the set of measures.

“President Conte and his graduate super ministers did not think that, in addition to closing time, there is also a time to reopen,” said Aldo Manoieri, owner of a cafe in Catanzaro Lido. Thus, Manoieri closes the bar at midnight and reopens it 15 minutes later.

The police officers who intervened agreed with him.

“We regularly close at midnight and show it to the patrolling police to check the rules, but information on when a place can be reopened is not included in the set of measures,” Manoieri said.

To those who ask him if he will continue or adapt these days, when a new set of measures has been adopted, he replies: “I will adapt to what the rule says and I will continue to reopen at 00:15”.

His story quickly made the rounds on social media. Some consider him a hero, others say he is a danger to public health.

And in Bologna a bar reopens after midnight.

“The restrictions include the restaurant’s closing time, but not the opening time. So I can close at 24 and reopen at 01:24. We choose to stay closed for an hour to clean the tables, rooms and spaces and reopen at 1” said Andrea Ferrari, owner of a bar in front of Bologna Central Station.
