Another 3,058 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours in Romania, after 35,596 tests. The COVID-19 balance reached 771,843, according to data transmitted this Thursday by the Strategic Communication Group.

To date, on February 18, in Romania, 771,843 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus have been confirmed. After tests conducted at the national level, compared to the last report, 3,058 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 were registered, cases that had not previously had a positive test. Apart from the newly confirmed cases, after retesting the patients who were already positive, 627 people were positively reconfirmed.

To date, 19,659 people have been diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Between 17.02.2021 (10:00) – 18.02.2021 (10:00) 71 deaths were reported (43 men and 28 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Covasna, Dâmbovița, Dolj , Gorj, Harghita, Hunedoara, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Neamț, Satu Mare, Sibiu, Teleorman, Timiș, Tulcea, Vaslui and Bucharest.

Of these, there was one death in the age group 40 to 49 years, 5 deaths in the age group 50 to 59 years, 27 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 23 deaths in the age category age 70 to 79 years and 15 deaths in the category of over 80 years. 69 of the registered deaths were of some patients who presented comorbidities and 2 deceased patients did not present comorbidities.

In health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 6,913. Of these, 936 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 5,804,671 RT-PCR tests and 230,652 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide. In the last 24 hours, 27,599 RT-PCR tests were performed (17,720 based on case definition and medical protocol and 9,879 upon request) and 7,997 rapid antigen tests.

In Romania, 40,235 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus are isolated in their homes and 10,195 people are in institutional isolation. Additionally, 60,534 people are in home quarantine and 136 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

Since the start of the pandemic, 717,179 patients have been declared cured.
