Furthermore, the Strategic Communication Group mentioned that at this time the number of people infected with COVID 19 who died in Romania is 923. The number remains practically unchanged compared to yesterday.

UPDATE at 11:30 am INSP announces that six deaths were reported twice in Suceava on Friday

Considering the double report of 6 deaths (899 – 904) in Suceava County since 05/08/2020, the INSP returns with a first rectification replacing 3 of them, as follows:

Comorbidities: hypertension. Thyroidectomy.

Confirmation date: 08.05.2020.

Woman, 79, Timiş County.

Confirmation date: 25.04.2020.
Date of death: 08.05.2020.
Comorbidities: diabetes mellitus. HTA. Chronic kidney disease

The remaining 3 deaths will be replaced as more new deaths are reported today.

The balance of the previous day

Several deaths were not reported on Friday due to the system change, the Strategic Communication Group announced, raising the number of Covid-19 deaths to 923 in Romania.

Therefore, after verifications from the national database, another 25 deaths were recorded due to Covid-19. The last victims were between 32 and 84 years old, confirmed with other ailments. Most of the patients were from Suceava. On Friday, a total of 35 new deaths were reported in the country.

On Friday, 312 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Romania. Thus, the total balance of infections reached 14,811 people. As of Friday, 6,423 patients had been declared cured and discharged. On the other hand, 232 people remain hospitalized in intensive care units.

237,280 tests have been run to identify coronavirus infection to date. In the country, 14,382 people are quarantined in institutionalized centers and another 20,989 Romanians are in home care.

In the last 24 hours, 871 people who did not comply with the traffic restriction measure were fined, since the Constitutional Court ruled that the Ordinance that was the basis for increasing sanctions is not constitutional. The value of the fines of the last day is almost 1 million lei. Furthermore, since the establishment of the state of emergency, 541 criminal cases have been opened to thwart the fight against disease.

To date, 2,444 Romanian citizens in the diaspora have been confirmed with COVID-19. Most of the cases are in Italy, where 1,387 Romanians have been infected. At the same time, 96 Romanians abroad died from a coronavirus infection.
