By Monday, October 19, in Romania, 182,854 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) were confirmed.
132,082 patients were declared cured.
Apart from newly confirmed cases, after retesting patients who were already positive, 322 people were positively reconfirmed.
To date, 5,931 people diagnosed with COVID-19 infection have died.
Between 18.10.2020 (10:00) and 19.10.2020 (10:00) 59 deaths were reported (26 men and 33 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeş, Bacău, Bihor, Brăila, Călăraşi, Caraş-Severin, Constanţa, Dâmboviţa, Iaşi, Maramureş, Neamţ, Olt, Prahova, Sibiu, Suceava, Timiş, Vaslui, Vrancea and Bucharest.
Of these, 2 deaths were recorded in the age category 40 to 49 years, 6 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 18 deaths in the age category 60 to 69 years, 22 deaths in the age category of age 70 to 79 years. years and 11 deaths in the category of over 80 years.
All deaths were due to comorbidities.
In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized for COVID-19 is 10,296. Of these, 757 are hospitalized in ATI.
To date, 2,860,226 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 8,040 were performed in the last 24 hours, 5,681 according to the case definition and medical protocol and 2,359 upon request.
In Romania, 20,968 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are isolated in their homes and 9,678 people are institutionalized. Additionally, 47,407 people are in home quarantine and 48 people are in institutionalized quarantine.
In the last 24 hours, 1,227 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112.
As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, in the last 24 hours, 7,084 sanctions for minor infractions, worth 1,497,210 lei.
Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday 12 crimes were found to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

Ludovic Orban announced the main measures after exceeding the contagion rate of 3 per thousand inhabitants:
– Mandatory use of a mask in all open spaces, together with closed spaces
– Suspension of school courses and organization of online classes in all schools
– Suspension of activities in theaters, cinemas, restaurants, cafes inside
Schools, theaters, cinemas, restaurants and cafes in the closed spaces of the Capital are closing, announces Prime Minister Ludovic Orban. Parents will receive 75% of salary for the time they stay at home with their children.
The municipal committee for Emergency Situations should implement these measures and come up with an implementation plan, the prime minister added.
