USR-PLUS is ready to assume the government together with the PNL and the UDMR, which “becomes indispensable,” declared the co-president of the alliance, Dacian Cioloș on Monday. He said it was essential to support a credible candidate for prime minister and that the negotiations should not be televised. Dan Barna said, in turn, that it is possible to create a “decent” majority together with PNL and UDMR.
- “It was a difficult choice. I want to convey to the voters that we have understood the message and that the future government will have to take into account the wishes of all citizens. We at USR-PLUS have already formulated our priorities, we put them in a document – The good government revolution – to negotiate the formation of a coalition with the PNL. (…) We have a great responsibility to the government (…) USR-PLUS is ready to assume the government together with the PNL, and in these UDMR conditions become indispensable ”, said Dacian Cioloș, in a press conference in which Dan Barna, who was in isolation at home, also spoke.
He also said it was essential to support a credible prime ministerial candidate who had the ability to join the reformist right-wing forces. “This has to be discussed in negotiations with the parties and the president, and not on television. From our point of view, a new beginning is needed,” Ciolos said.
When asked if he considers himself more credible than the current prime minister, Ciolos replied: “Let’s not get into discussions like this. I proposed my services. I entered the electoral campaign committing myself to this responsibility, as I told you.” We have a constitution, we have a president. There will be negotiations between the parties. I don’t think this is now, which is stronger than the other. I told you, we need a prime minister who is now able to unite these reformist forces, “who must form a majority.
Dan Barna: It is possible to create a decent majority USR-PLUS, NLP, UDMR
- “It could have been easier for the next coalition, but if we look at the numbers and the bottom line results, we really see that it is possible to create a decent majority in USR-PLUS, PNL and UDMR, a majority that can meet these commitments, and from USR-PLUS, but in fact from Romania, through what they represent, related to special pensions, related to the elimination of immunities, ”said Barna.
He spoke about the framework document with which USR-PLUS begins negotiations for the establishment of a government coalition: “Our priority and responsibility is linked in the coming days to the establishment of this government coalition that can bring the perspective of USR PLUS to the governance and realities. “.
According to the partial results sent on Monday by the Central Electoral Table, after the 2020 parliamentary elections, the USR-PLUS Alliance obtained 15.4% of the votes.
