PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu said Thursday night that he will go to consultations with President Klaus Iohannis on Monday for the formation of the new government with the proposal of Alexandru Rafila, prime minister and government of the National Union. He said that he will go alone to Cotroceni, because Rafila is still isolated, his wife has COVID-19.
“I put to the vote the proposal to go to Cotroceni on Monday with Professor Dr. Alexandru Rafila, the PSD proposal for the post of prime minister. (…) I think it is necessary for the president to admit that he lost the elections, that PNL and USR must think and not turn this period into a sterile and sterile discussion, we must see the priorities of the Romanians and I believe that the most correct thing for the president is to accept a minority government of the PSD led by Mr. Rafila, or a national union government with Prime Minister Alexandru Rafila. On Monday we are the first party invited to Cotroceni. I will be accompanied by my colleagues, I will not be able to be accompanied by Mr. Rafila because he is in solitary confinement at home “, declared the president of the PSD to the end of the meeting of the National Political Council.
Also at the press conference, Marcel Ciolacu confirmed that the PSD will send letters to the Socialists but also to the European leaders in which they want to notify the fact that President Klaus Iohannis campaigned for the Liberals. Asked by journalists what he hopes to achieve with these letters, the PSD leader replied:
“I am not expecting to receive anything. I am waiting for all European leaders, all foreign ministers and ambassadors of European countries in Romania to know the truth, to know what is happening in Romania. As you know, we have a report from the OSCE that is harshly critical. the participation of President Iohannis in the electoral campaign together with a political party, which is not accepted in the international commitments assumed by Romania ”, explained Ciolacu.
