Carol did 100 km of railroad a year, we have 7 km of subway in 9 years. Is inadmissible

Nicolae Noica, former Minister of Development of the governments of Víctor Ciorbea and Radu Vasile, considers it “inadmissible” to boast of the construction of 7 kilometers of subway in 9 years, given that, more than a century ago, Romania was building 100 kilometers of railways per year or building the Cernavoda bridge in just 5 years.

Nicolae Noica regrets the state of the construction sector in Romania, given its strong tradition in the field.

“Romania has had a formidable experience since the time of King Carol I, when 4,000 kilometers of railways were built in 40 years. There were 100 kilometers of railways a year. And we say that we did 7 kilometers of metro. It is inadmissible: 7 kilometers metro in 9-10 years, “Nicolae Noica said Tuesday night, in Digi24.

He also mentioned the mistakes that were made during the subway works on Camp Road, when the safety of buildings in the Heroes area was compromised.

“In Eroilor, the area is collapsing. It is very serious, a serious execution error. Wells have been drilled to lower the water level. Mole went into such a well, broke it, and this collapse occurred. Then the builder sued the Romanian State for delays in the construction and won ”, recalled the former minister.

Nicolae Noica says that the issue of public works “must be very well thought out” and must have its own ministerial portfolio, given the importance of large construction projects. In Romania, the former minister complained, these large-scale works have been left in the background, so now we cannot give examples of “major national projects” other than roads and the People’s Cathedral.

“Romanian engineers made a metro station in 2 months”

Nicolae Noica compared the rate of work of the Drumul Taberei subway to the rate of work of the subway before 1989. Even if modern technology allows for a higher rate of work, with drilling rather than precast, things happen the other way around.

“There was nothing between the University and Plaza Victoriei, the Plaza Romana station did not exist. And Ceausescu said one day it can’t be sir, there must be a station here. Romanian engineers made a station in two months, “said the former minister.

He also gave the example of the Cernavoda bridge, built by the engineer Anghel Saligny and inaugurated 125 years ago.

“The Cernavoda bridge was built in 5 years. The pillars are buried 35 meters below the water level. The workers received some special medications and could not stay under water for more than 3-4 hours,” said Nicolae Noica about working conditions.

The first road built after the Revolution.

The Drumul Taberei – Eroilor metro line opened on September 15, five years late. The official inauguration took place in the presence of President Klaus Iohannis and Prime Minister Ludovic Orban.

This is the only road built after the revolution, the others built during communism, and it should have been ready in 2015. It will connect the Drumul Taberei neighborhood with the metro network.

Metro line 5 has 10 stations: Râul Doamnei – Eroilor Section (PS Opera), it is made up of 10 metro stations and a depot: Râul Doamnei, Constantin Brâncuşi, Valea Ialomiţei, Romancierilor, Parc Drumul Taberei, Tudor Vladimirescu, Favorit, Orizont, Military Academy, Heroes 2.
