DIICOT head Giorgiana Hosu resigned. The decision comes after her husband, Dan Hosu, was sentenced to 3 years in prison with suspension in a case investigated by DNA. The sentence is not final.

“The resignation of the DIICOT chief prosecutor was motivated by concern to protect the credibility of the institution and was based on a context with which he had no connection and for reasons that are not attributable to him,” reports the Ministry of Justice.

The direction of DIICOT will continue to be in charge of Deputy Oana Daniela Pâţu

Giorgiana Hosu is a prosecutor with more than 20 years of experience. She was appointed by Iohannis to direct DIICOT in February. Giorgiana Hosu was the center of attention because she dealt with the Caracal case.

Even in the interview for the position of head of DIICOT in front of the commission of the Ministry of Justice, Hosu admitted that in the Caracal case the institution had communication deficiencies and assumes everything. He also denied the presentation of parts of the August 10 case, in which the former chiefs of the gendarmerie escaped the charges.
