Vladimir Tismaneanu, one of Romania’s leading political scientists, was expelled from Free Europe after 37 years of collaboration. The decision was made by the new director of the Romanian section, Elena Vijulie Tănase, a former Digi 24 journalist.

Vladrimir Tismăneanu claims that the decision was made due to the fact that it is in process with Stelian Tănase, Elena Vijulie’s husband.

We reproduce Vladrimir Tismăneanu’s post

“Horses do not die when dogs want to: I started to collaborate with the radio station Free Europe in February 1983. I established the contractual conditions with Professor Vlad Georgescu, director of the Romanian department. They have remained unchanged, with the Necessary updates (address, bank account) to this day Pay has stayed the same since 1983 I wrote and write for Free Europe not for money, but for the cause of freedom.

Over the decades, I have received many death threats. I don’t need to go into details. I welcomed the reopening of an RFE office in Bucharest about a year ago. I was a permanent contributor to Radio Free Europe Moldova, I was delighted that one of my articles was broadcast weekly by the Bucharest office. A month ago, I received a laconic notification from Ms Elena Vijulie Tânase that, for financial reasons, the Agora section on the Romanian section’s website is being removed. Regrets? An attempt to communicate personally? The expression of appreciation for 37 years of constant collaboration? No way.

Today I received the official notification signed by Mrs. Elena Tanase (without Vijulie), director of the Romanian section. Until the contrary is proven, which, I am sure, will come sooner than Mrs. Tanase and her consort imagine (with whom I am in the process because she published in the abject online fiction “Cotidianul” of Nistorescu my bank account number and my additional address). In conclusion: 1. I continue to be a permanent contributor to Radio Europa Moldova. 2. What Ceaușescu and Iliescu did not achieve, Ms Tănase achieved. Congratulations! Conflict of interests? You can bet… ”, writes Vladimir Tismăneanu on Facebook.

Corneliu Coposu told him about Stelian Tănase

PS: I remember what Mr. Corneliu Coposu told me once: “Dear Vladimir, I forgive you anything, but there is one thing that I cannot overcome.” “What, Mr. Coposu?” “The fact that, thanks to you, we have in mind this braggart named Stelian Tănase who assassinates us under the pretext of being a ‘political scientist’ …” A file on the history of CDR and of my mistakes. .. 🙂 The result of my lifelong collaboration with Free Europe is palpable: “The archeology of terror”, “The totalitarian night”, “The unrepeatable past”, “Effigies of a historical nightmare”, “Thesis and antithesis in Washington”. In addition and most importantly, the feeling that I did good to the country where I was born and whose language was and will forever be the first in my life.
