As of November 1, the salaries of the nearly 5,500 employees of the public service company that runs the Bucharest metro would increase by a sum of between 150 and 1575 lei. However, the salary increase agreed by the director of Metrorex with the unions is not well received by the members of the company’s Board of Directors.
Pandemic Salary Increase at Metrorex
The Board of Directors (BOD) says that it does not agree with this salary increase, the decision was made after negotiations for a new collective agreement.
According to the decision of October 27, a document obtained by Digi24, the members of the Board say that they do not support and do not assume the result of the negotiations for the collective bargaining agreement for 2020-2021, a contract that has already been registered in the Inspection Territorial Work.
The responsibility for the financial and economic consequences that affect the company rests exclusively with the negotiating committee, it is reflected in the document. Metrorex estimates a loss of 328 million lei for this year, in the low-income conditions caused by the pandemic. The number of metro rides has decreased, both due to spring restrictions and the context in which many Bucharest residents still work from home.
According to the law, during the alert state the collective bargaining agreements are extended, so it is not necessary to renegotiate them. Therefore, they are renegotiated within 90 days after the end of the alert status.
How much can a Metrorex mechanic earn?

These were published on the website of the institution under the Ministry of Transport.
