Bercea Mondial, sentenced to 13 years in prison in October 2019
On October 21, 2019, Sandu Anghel, known as Bercea Mondialul, was sentenced by the Olt Court to 13 years and 272 days in prison, in an attempted murder case committed in 2009 against a former deputy mayor. from the municipality of Slatina, Valeriu Matei.
“The court condemns the defendant Anghel Sandu, called Bercea Mondialul, to the main prison sentence of 6 (six) years for the crime of attempted simple homicide (an act committed on 01.22.2009, to the detriment of the injured person Constati Matei Valeriu ) that the present act, committed on 01.22.2009, is concurrent with the facts for which the defendant Anghel Sandu was convicted by Criminal Judgment no. 209 / 04.04.2017 of the Dolj Court, with the facts for which the defendant Anghel Sandu was convicted by Criminal Sentence No. 29 / 22.02.2012 of the Olt Court, and by Criminal Judgment no. 83 / 20.01.2015 of the Court of Argeş. Finally, the defendant Anghel Sandu will execute: – the main penalty resulting from 13 years in prison and 272 days in prison, under detention, deducts the period executed from 20.02.2011 to 16.05.2014, from 17.05.2014 to 03.08 . 2014 and from 04.08.2014 to 08.02.2019. Annul the conditional release of the accused Anghel Sandu, ordered by Criminal Sentence no. 2147 / 12.13.2018 of Court Tr. In the same case, Sandu Anghel’s son, Laurenţiu Anghel, was also sentenced to prison with execution.
According to the decision of the Court of Olt, both Sandu Anghel and her son must pay Valeriu Matei, the injured party in the case, 40,000 euros each, as non-pecuniary damage. they also have to pay 3,000 lei, respectively 4,000 lei, legal expenses of the criminal investigation and trial phases.
In this case, Sandu Anghel and her son Laurenţiu were sent to trial in 2018, by the prosecutors of the General Prosecutor’s Office, for attempting the crime of aggravated homicide. The deed took place on January 22, 2009, in Slatina, where the former deputy mayor of the municipality, Valeriu Matei, was hit with a knife by Bercea, in the midst of a spontaneous conflict generated by misunderstandings on a terrain. In the same context, Valeriu Matei, as well as another man accompanying him, was run over by Laurenţiu Anghel with a car.
As a result of the altercation, both people suffered traumatic injuries that endangered their lives, one of them required 12 to 13 days of medical attention to heal, and the other 80 to 90 days.
Sandu Anghel was released from prison in February this year, serving a sentence of 8 years and 9 months for stabbing her nephew, and Laurenţiu Anghel was arrested for complicity in a robbery.
Bercea Mondial, released on the basis of the February 2019 compensatory appeal
In February, Sandu Anghel was released on probation from Drobeta Turnu Severin Penitentiary, following a decision taken by the Mehedinti court.
The Mehedinti Court rejected the prosecutors’ appeal and confirmed the release decision issued in December 2018 by the Drobeta Turnu Severin Court.
Bercea Mondial had yet to serve two years and seven months in prison of an 8-year and 9-month sentence, received for aggravated murder, and was charged with stabbing one of his grandchildren in 2011.
According to the Court’s decision, until September 2021, Bercea Mondial will be under the supervision of the Olt Probation Service, during which time the thief must attend a professional qualification course.
In May 2014, Bercea Mondial was sentenced by the magistrates of the Superior Court of Cassation and Justice to 8 years and 9 months in prison for aggravated homicide. In the same case, his son, Florin Anghel, called Ambassador, was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison with execution, and Bercea’s wife, Fănica Anghel, received one year in prison with execution.
