The assessments belong to former president Traian Băsescu, currently a member of the PMP MEP, who specified that said alliance will depend a lot on the votes obtained by the main rival parties, PSD and PNL.
Why is a PSD-USR alliance not excluded?
“Such an alliance between PSD and USR is not excluded, after the parliamentary elections, and the key for this agreement to take place would be for the PNL to have a parliamentarian in addition to the PSD. But I do not believe that the NLP will succeed in winning the parliamentary elections, because that is why President Klaus Iohannis also comes out to support them in the fight against the PSD ”, declared the former president of Romania.
How can NLP stop the PSD-USR alliance?
According to him, if the Liberals get a higher percentage than the PSD, then they could claim the post of prime minister, and other alliances will cease to be relevant.
Traian Băsescu specified that the two parties, PSD and USR, have several things in common from an ideological point of view, being from the left. The former president also demonstrated that the two parties collaborated in the vote for the election of the president of the Legislative Council, Florin Iordache. In addition, Băsescu specified that the gesture of USR politicians to resign from Parliament, under the pretext that they will lose their special pensions, came after the announcement made by Marcel Ciolacu, leader of the PSD, on the same issue.
“It is about synergy, as the people in the Legislative Council called it, USR voted Iordache” another question “and PSD voted a USR deputy from Iordache. It is obvious that between PSD and USR there is a communication of interests, at least at the level of people, an agreement. I’m afraid it’s also a political affiliation. (..) So I’m not surprised that the USR acts like a monkey. The head of the PSD made a move, jump and so did we, but we do it en bloc, we are nicer, more liars, more disrespectful to the electorate ”, Băsescu also affirmed.
