AUR reacted to the UDMR statement, which said that “there was no need for such a thing in the Romanian Parliament”, conveying that, in fact, the Hungarian party “has no place” in the legislature.

“The UDMR has no place in the Romanian Parliament. We respect the Hungarian community in Romania and we have ethnic Hungarian candidates in the GOLD entering the Legislature. AUR, however, opposes the establishment and operation of political parties with ethnic criteria and in that sense, it will launch a national campaign to reform the Constitution to ban political parties for ethnic reasons, ”said the AUR leader.
