Infectious diseases doctor Adrian Marinescu affirms that it is necessary to immunize 60-70% of the population to “be able to discuss a moment of ending the pandemic”, reports Mediafax.

The Minister of Health, Nelu Tătaru, announced this Friday that, so far, after the processing of 11,000 tests in the seroprevalence study, the percentage of immunization of the Romanian population to the new coronavirus is only 4.6%.

Under these conditions, the hope of a herd immunization is linked to the appearance of a vaccine.

Currently, there are more than 200 vaccines in development worldwide, in clinical stages and 8 in the final testing stage.

Infectious diseases doctor Adrian Marinescu, from the Matei Balș Institute, says that more than half of the world’s population will have to be vaccinated, so that the light can be seen at the end of the tunnel and we can wait for the end of the pandemic.

“A vaccine, from the moment it is obtained, must be produced on a large scale, it must be distributed, it must be a campaign for each country. It has to be an action that takes place in a certain way. Probably around 60-70%, it would be a necessary minimum percentage of immunization, so that things, effectively, are seen, so that we can discuss a moment of closure for the pandemic “, said Adrian Marinescu, quoted by Mediafax. .

But for the immunization of the population, not only the appearance of the anti-Covid vaccine will be important, but also the way in which the vaccination campaign will be organized, said Dr. Adrian Marinescu. He believes that an information campaign would be welcome to convince those who oppose vaccination.
