About 3,500 Romanians were infected with the new coronavirus after the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, so they did not show up as a booster, says the coordinator of the vaccination campaign, Dr. Valeriu Gheorghiță. It states that there are “very few” cases of infection after the boost.
The military doctor said at a press conference on Tuesday that some 3,500-3,600 people who received the first dose of the COVID vaccine became infected later. “In fact, it is the main reason these people did not show up for the booster dose, as they were scheduled on the platform,” Gheorghiţă said.
He stated that “there are very few cases” of people who contracted the disease after being vaccinated with the second dose of vaccine.
“In terms of numbers, there are a total of 3,500-3,600 people, which is a very small number compared to the number of people vaccinated,” Gheorghita added.
According to data released Monday night by the Immunization Steering Committee, a total of 696,943 people have been vaccinated against COVID since the start of the campaign on December 27.
