Prime Minister Ludovic Orban said in Alba on Friday that for the time being, those who do not abide by the rules imposed during the alert will receive a police reprimand. The Prime Minister also explained that a broad campaign will be carried out to inform citizens about these rules, and then those who do not comply will be fined.

When asked what would happen if citizens did not respect the rules imposed by the National Committee for Emergency Situations during the state of alert, Ludovic Orban said: “For now, you are in danger of a reprimand, a warning.”

“I urge Romanian citizens to respect all the rules, all the rules that we have established, that we did not do because we wanted to. All these rules are established not only in Romania, but in many countries precisely to protect health and human life, to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

There will definitely be penalties. And now we have a basis for fines. We turn to some rules decided by the National Committee for Emergency Situations that are imposed by joint orders of the Minister of Health with the relevant ministers from all the areas that he coordinates.

All rules must be passed on to citizens as part of a comprehensive and well-informed campaign. Once people know these rules, whoever does not follow them will be fined, “explained Ludovic Orban.

Romania has been on alert for 30 days, starting Friday, May 15. The decision of the National Committee for Emergency Situations that regulates the state of alert provides a series of measures that people must take, but also a series of prohibitions, such as leaving the town, with some exceptions.
