Cyprus has entered quarantine, a measure that provides for the closure of restaurants, shopping centers and churches, restrictions that are added to the prohibition of night traffic and other measures in force since the end of November, reports EFE.

The new measures, which will be in effect until at least December 31, also include closing middle schools for courses to be taken online.

Services in places of worship will be held without the public, except weddings, funerals and baptisms, which will be held with the presence of a maximum of 10 people.

The Ministry of Health announced that the traffic ban between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., established on November 27, will remain in force.

The ban on private gatherings of more than 10 people, including minors, hospital visits and public gatherings, will run until the end of December.

The Government of Cyprus has decided to extend these restrictions after increasing the number of positive cases with PCR tests from 3.5% to 5.5%.

Cyprus, with a population of around 850,000, has recorded 13,649 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 70 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
