One study shows that all children who died in the UK from coronavirus had very serious comorbidities, according to Bloomberg.

The study notes that healthy children are not at risk of becoming infected with the virus or are less likely to come into contact with the disease.

Another detail that the study highlights is that young patients of color or who are obese have a higher risk of disease. The research examined 651 analyzed cases, of which 42% were patients with additional health problems. Only 18% of them were admitted to intensive care and 6 deaths were based on very serious comorbidities.

52 of the children analyzed suffered from multisystem inflammatory syndrome, a syndrome associated with patients with coronavirus.

“Children who have this type of medical problem end up having heart problems,” said Calum Semple, a pediatrician at the University of Liverpool. “It’s very rare to find serious illnesses in children. Even African American children or those with obesity have a slightly lower risk of becoming infected, the doctor said.
