The Secretary General of the Government affirmed this Tuesday, in a post on Facebook in which he defended the restrictions imposed at the national level, that “all ATI beds are occupied.” He returned to the message after about two hours and changed only that passage: “ATI beds are getting faster.”

In his message, the Secretary General of the Government defended the measures announced by the authorities, which, although they are “apparently unpopular, are taken out of respect for the lives of doctors and people.”.

The secretary general spoke about the state of the medical system, which he characterized, “let’s say gentle, poor.”

“All ATI beds are occupied, the doctors are tired, the medical staff is exhausted. We do not want to end up in desperate situations, that is why the government chooses to save lives at the cost of cheap populism, ”wrote the secretary general.

After more than two hours, he returned to the message and changed only the statement. “All ATI beds are occupied”, which became “ATI beds are getting faster and faster.” The rest of the message remains unchanged:

“ATI beds fill up faster and faster, the doctors are tired, the medical staff is exhausted. We don’t want to end up in desperate situations, that’s why the government chooses to save lives at the cost of cheap populism. “

Patients who died due to not attending ATI

The situation of ATI beds is at the limit in many hospitals in the country. Hospital directors report how intensive care beds are cared for immediately after discharge, or worse, how COVID patients not in ATI simply lose their lives.

In Timisoara, there were cases of patients who did not resist until an intensive care bed was discharged, said Dr. Virgil Musta, head of the infectious diseases department at Victor Babeș Hospital.

“We are in a very difficult situation due to the large number of cases. Our hospital has oxygen stations in each room, we have support hospitals with concentrators, where the oxygen flow is not as high as in these stations. If a patient of a support hospital decompensates, we take care of it. But in our country, furthermore, only ATI can save it. The places are so full in Babe esta, tonight we have no more places, neither in CFR and the cardiovascular recovery center, capacity is maximum ”, explained the doctor.

Dr. Musta stated that he cannot stop oxygen for these patients: “We cannot do such a thing. We keep a patient who needs oxygen under oxygen at maximum pressure, until a spot is released. If he is released and if he resists until then ”.
