Alarming increase in deaths from COVID-19. The death toll has doubled in the last 24 hours. The infection rate is 15.6%.

In the last 24 hours, 3,697 new cases of Covid-19 were registered, of the 23,667 tests carried out. Another 156 Romanians died after being infected with coronavirus. There are 1,073 Covid patients in intensive care.

To date, on January 12, in Romania, 676,968 cases of people infected with the new coronavirus (COVID – 19) have been confirmed.

605,045 patients were declared cured.

Following nationwide testing, compared to the last report, 3,697 new cases of people infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (COVID – 19) were registered, cases that had not previously had a positive test.

The coefficient of accumulated infections at 14 days, reported per 1,000 inhabitants, is calculated by the Public Health Directorates, at the municipal and county levels of Bucharest. Here is the table prepared based on the reports received by CNCCI from the Public Health Directorates:

To date, 16,881 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died.

Between 11.01.2021 (10:00) and 12.01.2021 (10:00), 156 deaths were reported (105 men and 51 women), of some patients infected by the new coronavirus, hospitalized in Alba, Arad, Argeș, Bacău, Bistrița-Năsăud, Botoșani, Brăila, Brașov, Călărași, Caraș-Severin, Constanța, Dâmbovița, Dolj, Galați, Gorj, Ialomița, Iași, Maramureș, Mehedinți, Mureș, Satceai, Tulceava, Neamcea, Vasecea, Suceava, Suceava, Tulcea, Suceava, Suceava, Tulceava, Suceava, Tulcea , Vrancea and Bucharest.

Of these, 3 deaths were recorded in the age category 30 to 39 years, 2 deaths in the age category 40 to 49 years, 9 deaths in the age category 50 to 59 years, 36 deaths in the age category of age 60 to 69 years, 69 deaths in the age group 70 to 79 years and 37 deaths in the category over 80 years.

147 of the deaths registered are of some patients who presented comorbidities, 1 deceased patient did not present comorbidities and so far out of 8 deceased patients, no comorbidities have been reported.

In specialized health units, the total number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 is 8,783. Of these, 1,073 are hospitalized in ATI.

To date, 5,048,928 tests have been processed nationwide. Of these, 23,667 were performed in the last 24 hours, 14,971 based on the definition of the case and medical protocol and 8,696 on request.

Likewise, since the last information made by GCS, the results of 569 tests processed before the last 24 hours and transmitted until January 12 of this year have been reported.

In Romania, 31,401 people confirmed with the new coronavirus infection are in isolation at home and 8,799 people are in institutional isolation. In addition, 52,071 people are quarantined at home and 122 people are in institutionalized quarantine.

In the last 24 hours, 3,193 calls were registered to the single emergency number 112 and 1,020 to the TELVERDE line (0800 800 358), opened especially to inform citizens.

As a result of the violation of the provisions of Law No. 55/2020 on some measures to prevent and combat the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the police and gendarmes applied, on January 11, 4,426 penalties for minor offenses, worth 842,175 lei.

Likewise, through the competent structures of the Police, yesterday 2 criminal proceedings were raised to frustrate the fight against diseases, a fact foreseen and sanctioned by art. 352 Penal Code.

We remind citizens that the Ministry of the Interior has put into operation, as of 04/07/2020, a TELVERDE line (0800800165) where infractions to health protection regulations can be notified.

The calls are answered by a dispatcher, in an integrated system, and distributed to the territorial structures for the verification of the notified issues.

Regarding the situation of Romanian citizens in other states, it was confirmed that 7,264 Romanian citizens were infected with SARS – CoV – 2 (coronavirus): 1,939 in Italy, 1,395 in Spain, 173 in Great Britain, 125 in France, 3,110 in Germany, 93 in Greece, 49 in Denmark, 36 in Hungary, 28 in the Netherlands, 2 in Namibia, 4 in the United States, 7 in Sweden, 131 in Austria, 22 in Belgium, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 30 in Switzerland, 3 in Turkey, 2 in Iceland, 2 in Belarus, 2 in Bulgaria, 10 in Cyprus, 2 in India, 2 in Ukraine, 8 in the United Arab Emirates, 12 in Moldova, 3 in Montenegro, 50 in Ireland and one each in Argentina, Tunisia, Luxembourg, Malta, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Republic of the Congo, Qatar, Vatican, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan, Iran, Singapore, Slovenia and the Russian Federation.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) epidemic and so far, 133 Romanian citizens abroad, 33 in Italy, 19 in France, 43 in Great Britain, 11 in Spain, 14 in Germany, 2 in Belgium, Han died 3 in Sweden, 2 in Ireland, 1 in Switzerland, 1 in the United States, 1 in Brazil, 1 in the Republic of the Congo, 1 in Greece and 1 in Iran.

Of the Romanian citizens confirmed with the new coronavirus infection, 798 were declared cured: 677 in Germany, 90 in Greece, 18 in France, 6 in Japan, 2 in Indonesia, 2 in Namibia, one in Luxembourg, one in Tunisia and one in Argentine.
