Nicușor Dan, the mayor-elect of the capital, says that the people of Bucharest are in for a harsh winter, as the district heating system is “worse” than it was 3-4 years ago. “The number of damages is much higher,” he said, writes Mediafax.
The capital’s mayor-elect, Nicușor Dan, says all he will be able to do is make sure damage interventions are carried out quickly.
A very harsh winter will follow, in which our system is much worse than what we had 3 or 4 years ago, in the sense that the number of damages is much greater and each Bucharestian has seen this summer in his own skin. And then we have to do it, because we don’t have time, since we take possession until the beginning of winter we have about a month, the only thing we can do is do damage management, so that we have a stock of materials with which to intervene, to having teams with which we can intervene and here the Termoenergetica people are not enough and we will have to make some emergency contracts with private companies that will also be able to intervene ”, said Nicușor Dan, in RTV.
In his opinion, the spring could replace the old pipes of the district heating system.
“In district heating we have to access this European money that is available for Bucharest, for the rehabilitation of the infrastructure, for the change with modern technologies of the pipes in the main ring and start changing them this spring. We have money until 2020. (…) They are 40-50 year old pipes. The new pipeline, of the 1,000 kilometers that we have to change, has changed one kilometer in these 4 years of mandate ”, added Nicușor Dan.
