Another doctor from the Emergency Hospital No. 1 in Omsk, where Alexei Navalny arrived immediately after he was poisoned last summer, he passed away. This is the head of the department of traumatology and orthopedics, Aghișev Rustam Gabasovici, who died last week, according to a hospital statement.

The 63-year-old man had suffered a stroke in December. However, the exact causes of his death have not been specified.

In early February, another doctor of the Omsk emergency hospital, namely the chief intensive care adjunct, died suddenly. Sergei Maskimișin died of a heart attack. He was 55 years old.

Alexei Navalny was hospitalized in Omsk in August last year. Initially, the emergency hospital admitted that he had been poisoned, but later denied it.

In October last year, another doctor in charge of the Omsk hospital, Anatoli Kalinicenko, resigned and said he would move to a private clinic because he loves surgery more than administrative tasks, reports Radio Free Europe. When Navalny was transferred to the hospital with symptoms of intoxication in August 2020, it was Kalinicenko who was responsible for the ward where he was admitted, who communicated with the press, but also with doctors in Germany, where the dissident was later transferred.

Soon after, the hospital’s chief physician, Aleksandr Murahovski, a member of the ruling United Russia Party, personally took over communication with the press and announced that Navalny’s health had deteriorated due to a “metabolic disease”. He is also the one who delayed Navalny’s transfer to Berlin for two days. Subsequently, Murahovski was promoted to Minister of Health in the Omsk region.
