A woman from Galati, compensated last year by the Renault-Nissan group because the car she bought had engine problems, was sued by Renault, registering the lawsuit before the Galati Court, shows libertatea.ro.

According to the cited source, Mariana Ganea, compensated after the purchase of a Nissan Juke with a 1.2-liter engine, was sued by Renault Comercial Roumanie. The cited source shows that the object of the lawsuit was not made public, but it is suspected that it is a lawsuit for the confidentiality clause imposed by Renault at the time of compensation.

The car group has had problems throughout Europe with cars equipped with this engine, and the situation has been described both in the Romanian press and in France, Belgium or the United Kingdom.

The engines would not be reliable

In essence, these cars have problems with oil consumption and the engines are unreliable and often end up in service. Renault treats each case separately and has not launched a campaign to compensate consumers affected by the problem.

The Ganea family had purchased a 1.2-liter Nissan Juke three years ago. But it did not work in parameters, and the gasoline ended up in the oil bath. In three years, Renault changed its engine once, but the situation is not remedied with a new engine either. Finally, Ganea went to the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), which said that his complaint is well founded. Following the ANPC’s decision, the Renault-Nissan group bought the car in July 2019. Ganea then received the amount of 14,400 euros per car, respectively 89% of its new value.

The proof

However, the problems did not end for Gabriel Ganea, because now the group is suing him. Nobody wants to say what the object of this process is. However, all indications lead to the idea that this is the confidentiality clause imposed by Renault at the time of compensation, in order not to give ideas to other customers who have problem cars.

“The Renault Group, as well as Nissan, through their official representative in Romania, respectively Renault Commercial Roumanie, did not make financial offers to compensate any customer who owns a vehicle equipped with 1.2-liter TCe engines.

There are no pending court cases on this issue. The procedure seems to be related to a problem in the same engine, but the root cause is related to the installation of an unauthorized LPG device ”, shows the Communication Department of Groupe Renault Romania, according to libertatea.ro.
