The coordinator of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19, Valeriu Gheorghiță, says that the delay of the second installment of vaccine was caused by an organization and software problem of the Pfizer company.
Pfizer announced to Romania that there are problems at the Belgian factory and that the vaccine doses will arrive 24 hours late, Valeriu Gheorghiță, on Antena 3, was quoted as saying by Mediafax.
“Pfizer informed me that due to organizational and software problems at the Belgian factory, the vaccines will be delivered one day late. It starts on December 29 and December 30, respectively. (…) There is this delay in eight European countries. Some countries received today (Sunday – no), others will receive tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. In addition, in Romania (…) on the 29th, the trenches of Bucharest, Timișoara and Cluj will arrive in Romania, and on 30 December the trenches assigned to Iași, Brașov, Constanța and Craiova will arrive, ”he said.
Gheorghiță also said that there is no delivery schedule, but only the certainty that the doses of the vaccine will reach our country.
“There will be a section of about 150,000 doses per week. I want to make one more point: the delivery time is estimated. It is true that it will be weekly, but the exact day on which it is delivered may change. The Pfizer company has agreed to notify us at least two days before the delivery time, precisely to be able to organize the logistics process of reception and storage ”, Gheorghiță also said.
GCS announced that delivery was delayed in eight countries due to technical problems with the manufacturer.
Thus, the new anti-COVID-19 vaccines will arrive on Monday in Bucharest, Cluj and Timișoara, and on December 30 in Brașov, Constanța, Craiova and Iași.
Romania should have received 144,000 doses of vaccine on Monday, for more than 370 regional vaccination centers in the country.
