Russian photographer Sergey Gorshkov waited 11 months to capture the moment with hidden cameras. His patience recommended him to be named Photographer of the Year by the Duchess of Cambridge in 2020 at a ceremony at London’s Natural History Museum, writes The Guardian.

The image was selected from more than 49,000, Roz Kidman Cox – the chairman of the judicial commission, calling the photo “an intimate moment glimpsed in a magical forest.

Gorshkov said he knew his chances were slim, but was determined to capture an image of such a totemic animal. He rummaged through the woods for signs in the trees, installed cameras near the tree in January 2019, and got the acclaimed photo in November. The photographer titled the image “Hug.”
