UPDATE 14:40. The patient who jumped from the second floor of the Matei Balş Institute building died. The man was 51 years old and infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
A patient who tested positive for Covid-19 and who was hospitalized at the Matei Balş National Institute of Infectious Diseases in the capital, threw himself on the window of the second floor of the building. The man was transferred to the Floreasca Hospital, where the doctors applied resuscitation maneuvers.
The management of the Matei Balș National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INBIMB) sent a press release announcing the incident.
The INBIMB management announces the appearance of an unfortunate incident, translated by the defenestration of a 51-year-old patient, hospitalized with COVID-19, from a room located in one of the Institute’s buildings, on its 2nd floor. The patient was immediately assisted to ensure vital functions, with maximum support, after which he was transferred to the Bucharest Emergency Clinical Hospital The INBIMB team is emotionally devastated at this time and draws attention to the depression syndromes associated with COVID 19. The authorities made themselves known and the event was registered on the website of the National Authority for Health Quality Management (ANMCS), ”the statement read.
