A man infected with Covid 19 was hanged in a ward of the County Hospital in Galați, the police launched an investigation, according to Mediafax.

The incident took place on Thursday in the spaces intended for Covid 19 patients.

The 68-year-old man was found hanged in the living room, and the medical personnel who performed the resuscitation maneuvers were unable to save him. Police are investigating a criminal case for wrongful death.

“The call to the single emergency number 112 was at 6.10, it came from the ATI section. The on-call doctor for the County Hospital’s Resuscitation Department announced that a 68-year-old man, a patient in the department, was found hanged. Resuscitation maneuvers were performed, but without success. The police went to the scene, the first controls were carried out and a criminal case for wrongful death was opened, ”explained the IPJ Galați spokesperson, Gabriela Costin.

In Romania there have been several cases of this type.

In October, a patient admitted to the Sibiu Pneumoftiziology Hospital, confirmed with the new coronavirus, committed suicide, being the second case of suicide of a patient with Covid-19 in the county.

Furthermore, a patient hospitalized on the sixth floor of the “Nicolae Oblu” Neurosurgery Hospital in Iași committed suicide in September, throwing himself empty from the window of the ward where he was hospitalized.
