A man in the US has been accused of killing a person who claims to have sexually abused as a child, but now claims to have killed 16 people, including his ex-wife.

Sean Lannon, 47, is charged with beating Michael Dabkowski in East Greenwich Township, New Jersey, and was arrested earlier this month in Missouri.

According to prosecutor Alec Gutiérrez, Lannon admitted to killing Dabkowski, and during questioning said that he killed 15 other people in New Mexico, including Jennifer, his wife who had separated from him, according to CNN.

Prosecutor Gutiérrez said in court on Friday: “He admitted to killing a total of 16 people, 15 in New Mexico and one in New Jersey. The FBI is overseeing an investigation in New Mexico.

Sean Lannon also claimed during questioning that 11 of the victims are drug traffickers.

The prosecutor in the case also says that the suspect confessed that some of the victims were dismembered, in order to hide their tracks.

The Albuquerque Police Department has previously said it will question Lannon about four dismembered bodies found in a garage near the Albuquerque airport on March 5. One of these bodies belongs to her ex-partner, Jennifer.

Lannon told investigators that Dabkowski, 66, who was his mentor in his youth, sexually abused him as a child and went to East Greenwich Township to retrieve explicit photos of the abuse.

The suspect was placed in preventive detention without the right to bail. The investigation of his case is just beginning and he is currently accused of having committed a single crime.
