A patient confirmed with the new coronavirus committed suicide at the Sibiu Pneumoftiziology Hospital, where he had been hospitalized, the Sibiu prefecture announced Friday night.
“During the night of October 16, around 2.00 am, a 73-year-old man, confirmed positive after the SARS-CoV-2 test, admitted to a medical unit in Sibiu, threw himself on the window of the room located in the first floor. I. He was urgently hospitalized in the ATI ward, in a very serious condition. Today, the man died. Likewise, at the level of the Sibiu Municipality Police, after the official notification, a criminal investigation was opened that aims to establish all the circumstances in which the incident in question occurred, ”the Sibiu Prefecture stated.
The director of the Pneumoftiziology Hospital, Cristian Román, confirmed to Agerpres that the patient was hospitalized in this hospital.
He is the second hospitalized COVID-19 patient to commit suicide. In May, another positive man, in treatment at the Infectious Diseases Department of the Sibiu County Clinical Hospital, hanged himself in the living room bathroom.
