Belly Mujinja, 47, was working for the British Rail Service when a person assaulted her and her colleague. A man spat at them and coughed them, after which he said he had the new coronavirus, according to the Paid Transportation Staff Association (TSSA), according to CNN.

The incident took place on March 22.

British transport police said in a statement: “Belly and her colleague insisted that they be allowed to work inside the building with a protective barrier between themselves and the public for the rest of the day.”

Mujinja had other health problems, including a condition that affected her breathing and for which she had undergone surgery.

The woman arrived at the hospital on April 2, 11 days after the incident, and was connected to the ventilator. However, three days later, Mujinja died 14 days after being the victim of the attack on the Victoria train station.

British transport workers are now calling on the government for more effective measures to prevent such incidents.
