A 75-year-old man from northern Israel died of a heart attack about two hours after being vaccinated against the new coronavirus, the Health Ministry said according to the Jerusalem Post.

The man had pre-existing conditions and had suffered heart attacks in the past, the ministry said. The director general of the Ministry of Health, Chezy Levy, has launched an investigation into the incident.

“We share the pain of the family”, Levy said in a statement.

The man was injected around 8:30 a.m. at a clinic, after which he stayed in the unit, according to the procedure, for a short period of time, to see if he had any side effects. And when he felt fine, the clinic released him.

Medical director Levy mentioned that the first findings show that there is no connection between the man’s death and his vaccination.

It should also be noted that after Pfizer submitted the safety data to the US Food and Drug Administration in early December, it was discovered that two study participants died after receiving the vaccine. One of the deceased was “immunosuppressed”, which means that the person’s immune defense was low.

At the time, the Israeli Midaat Association commented on this death report, explaining that when vaccines are administered to people at risk, “there may be unfortunate cases. This should not create uncertainty about the vaccine, but should welcome transparency from pharmaceutical companies in the drug approval process.

The association noted that in large lawsuits involving tens of thousands of people, death can occur unrelated to the process, but that large companies like Pfizer are required to report such deaths.

“According to published data, six of the participants in the experiment died, two of whom received the vaccine and four from the control group.“Said Dr. Uri Lerner, Scientific Director of Midaat.”After careful examination, no connection was found between the experiment and the cause of death. “

Conspiracy theories about the side effects and alleged dangers of the recently released coronavirus vaccines have spread rapidly across social media.

The main side effects reported in the studies of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were pain, swelling, and redness at the injection site, but also chills, fatigue, and a general headache, but these effects generally lasted only a few days.

Long-term side effects are still unknown, as the vaccine is still too new to be known. However, most health officials said they believe the vaccine will not cause long-term harm. In Israel, more than 80% of medical personnel are expected to be vaccinated.

Since Monday morning, Israel has vaccinated 380,000 Israelis with the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine. According to Health Minister Yuli Edelstein, 99,000 people were vaccinated on Sunday alone.

Israel is currently vaccinating medical personnel, people over the age of 60, and people with chronic illnesses and hopes to begin vaccinating teachers and school personnel later this week.

The military vaccination campaign began on Monday and Israel hopes to vaccinate up to 150,000 people a day, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday night. If successful, 2.5 million Israelis will be vaccinated in a month and a half.
