Since I didn’t see a detailed review after a month of using the Galaxy Fold, I didn’t see it for the Galaxy Z Flip either. However, I know that there are people interested in this product category, so I allot time and space for such content.
I could have limited myself to a simple unboxing. But when you have to give 7000 lei on a phone, you need to know exactly why you are doing this. And if we are talking about an innovative phone, which does not have a correspondent in the market, the more it needs reviews.
You know, I’m not a fan of spec lists. Everything that interests you from this point of view can be found on the product page. I will talk about the experience I had with the phone, what I liked, what I did not like and the conclusions I drew.

I would like to point out that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is not a phone for everyone
It is not an ordinary phone and should not be treated that way. You buy Z Flip when you want to be different, experiment differently, and be part of the category of those who “They were the first.” As is the case with the Galaxy Fold, by the way.
Is it a lot, a little, to spend 7000 lei on such a mobile device?

Yes, the Z Flip is not the perfect flip phone. It has a number of features that no other phone could offer you, but it also has downsides that you can’t overlook, even if you wanted to.

You can’t be a woman and not sigh when you have a phone in your hand that looks like a mirror or pocket makeup. And if the first images seduced me, when I had this phone in my hands it was far away The best experience I’ve had with a phone in the 7 years that I’ve been testing. And, thank God, hundreds of models passed through my hand.
Below, I will list the reasons why 6300 or 7000 lei is not too high a price for Galaxy Z Flip. Next, let’s talk about the disadvantages that the product has and that make 7000 lei too high a price to bear.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is the first phone I give Grade 10 for design. I don’t want a flip phone for women that looks different from this one. The finishes, the color, the brand elements are all where they should be.
The camera is positioned correctly, the secondary mini screen gives me the necessary notifications: it is perfect! We talk about photo / video quality immediately, because I take them one at a time.
If we talk about innovation and perfection in terms of design, Samsung has found the perfect formula for me. If you manage to solve the weaknesses with the future model, I know clearly what my next phone will be. The quality of the materials with which Z Flip is produced is very good. And if you want to know what a premium phone means with just a touch, you should have it in your hands. It is the same quality of materials that we find in the Galaxy S20 Ultra tested by Cristi.
I’m glad to see that the South Korean manufacturer pays even more attention to this detail. That’s because I always asked for performance and from generation to generation I received.
But what Samsung did not have, but Apple always had
It was the premium feel you can only describe by touch. Yes, many say that there are phones from Chinese manufacturers that offer the same performance as Apple or Samsung products. But what I’m not saying is that only this year Samsung managed to match Apple in premium finishes. And unfortunately, no other producer can fight them in this regard.
Maybe I would have liked the volume buttons, as well as the home button, in which the fingerprint sensor is integrated. But I can’t say that it bothers me too much as I am now. This would be a fashion rather than a necessity.
Anyway, I don’t wear audio earphones on the phone, only very rarely, and then I put in some wireless work that I’ve already had for about 3 years. And if I get to the sound, I’ll go into detail about the speaker. Because there is only one, we do not have two. Plays sound at a satisfactory volume, has no artifacts when 100%.
Unfortunately, if you covered the speaker, You say by the sound. However, if you listen to music without headphones or watch a video on YouTube or movies on Netflix, this may bother you.
Personally, I only had a few moments when I covered the speaker. And to avoid this little incident, I prefer to bend the phone to 90 degrees, to see the video in the middle of the screen surface and the sound is played directly to me. You will see, if you buy this phone, that although it has a smaller display space, it is an interesting experience and will unintentionally adapt to a new style of consumption.

On the other hand, we must be aware that the way we interact with the phone will change radically.
Some talk about folding smartphones like Mate XS or Galaxy Fold that are made like a tablet. And that’s where we have true innovation, Dad!
Yes, there is innovation there too. But the challenge is not to create products with a larger screen that is as portable with a standard phablet. The challenge is adapting large screens to portable sizes like a pocket mirror, a pack of cigarettes, or a pack of nasal wipes. Only when you manage to offer a phablet screen that fits the size of your palm, can you say that you’ve outdone yourself.
I know, and Motorola released the Razr phone
But it’s ugly! I said this from the first rendering I saw on the internet and I still support it. Also, you can tell that the hinge breaks quickly, and most of the reviews were disappointing. No, the Motorola Razr is not a worth phone, even if you are a fan of the brand. And let’s be honest, how many men do you think you will see with a Razr phone or Galaxy Z Flip in your hand?
Also, having a design is not enough, it must also have functionality. And since I got here, I have to admit that in terms of Z Flip app optimization, there is room for improvement. I received an OS update while testing the Z Flip.
However, I can’t explain what happened, but the Instagram Stories filters were blocked after her. In the sense that you cannot use more. I uninstalled the app, reinstalled it to no avail. It is not something that is present in Note9, so it is not excluded that it has to do strictly with Z Flip.
However, I really like that you can share the screen and work in different ways to generate content for social networks. For stories and TikTok, Z Flip is undoubtedly the most suitable. That’s because we go back to the angle of 90 degrees. The position of the phone ensures stability and, for recordings, moves the fur to use fashionable language.
But let’s also talk about the screen
That he is the innovation, along with the hinge. About the hinge, we already know that we also found Fold. However, the screen does not seem to be the same as we see in Fold. I honestly didn’t see any difference between them other than size. If you see the folding strip? Yes, it shows!
More on a dark background than on an open one. However, it is not annoying and can be learned in a few hours with its presence. We are 2636 x 1080 pixels, and the content created is slightly different from what is generated with a standard smartphone. On the other hand, content made with Z Flip is easier to use than content created with Galaxy Fold.
And after you learn with the screen, folding and size, any other smartphone will look like a sausages. Yes, I know, the comparison sounds pretty weird. But give it a try and you’re right. Samsung Galaxy Z Flip is very thin, and after using it, any other phone will look very thick. Including S20, which is practically the same thickness. The fact that the phone folds changes the way it perceives weight, thickness, and size.
Some disadvantages of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip
It is not waterproof and dustproof. Also, you should be a little more careful when using it, maybe even take out insurance. You can find a protective cover for 250-300 lei. But if you choose to use it with a cover, you better not buy it. If you want such a phone, you really feel the premium finishes or you give up right away. I mean, if they are fairs, they are fairs.
And be careful, it’s slippery. You have stability in your hand, the flu is good. But if you put it in a newspaper or on a slightly tilted surface, expect to hear it in a few seconds.
Then the battery, although it has a capacity of 3,300 mAh, I couldn’t use the phone on a single charge for a whole day. But keep in mind that I had the data permanently, I broke Instagram and YouTube in two and spoke on the phone why not, this is how it is in isolation. The most I got with the battery at 8 hours
On the other hand, I always have a wireless charger on my desk. And because the Z Flip has wireless charging support, I put it on the rig and it charged so I wouldn’t run out of power.
conclusion Buy a wireless charger with your Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and always keep it on the desktop. In the car, I think everyone has a charger, so the drawbacks in this regard are somehow resolved.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip does not offer 5G support
You only have 3G and 4G. On the other hand, it has a very good processor, Snapdragon 855+ and Android 10. It is not a phone for smartphone players, so do not ask what it is and if it is, because I have not tested it in this regard. However, if the battery doesn’t last a day, when you add another game, it will probably connect in 4 hours.
There is something else that bothers me about the Galazy Z Flip, but that would probably work with a protective cover. Although, I said, if you put a case on a phone like that, you’d better not buy it. It’s about the fact that at certain times your palms still sweat. Which inevitably leads to the formation of fingerprints and moisture on the phone case. Then there would be unpleasant situations when the base of the face moves on the screen and the edges of the phone. The fact that the device is not waterproof and dustproof makes it vulnerable.
It should be periodically cleaned by a professional. Preferably a Samsung service specialist. That is if you want to get the most out of your phone. I found a glass containing Cola and spilled the liquid a few inches from the phone. The feeling of panic was not at all pleasant.
In the case of Note9, Note10, S10, S20, you need not fear so much that they are all waterproof. So, you have innovation in Z Flip, you have a totally different experience from any interaction with a phone. But, everything comes with many more risks than we wanted to forget over time with each launch of a new flagship phone.
And I want to end with comments on the cameras
That’s because I’ve heard a lot of people complain that 12MP with 12MP on the back is too little for this money and that 10MP for selfie doesn’t provide what is needed for Instagram. I would suggest testing before giving feedback. Not the other way around, but pixel count doesn’t always matter. It also matters how you know how to get the most out of them and whether you also know how to take photos. And so far, let them be the ones who have no idea how to use good light and angles when taking photos.
The main camera is what you need, and the selfie camera is perfect for Instagram and Facebook. Of course, it doesn’t compare to what we found on the S20 Ultra, because that phone is from another sphere. However, there is no doubt that you cannot generate Instagram or TikTok ready content with Galaxy Z Flip. The colors, the contrast, the clarity, they are all very good. Even in low light conditions, very good results are being obtained and I hope it will remain the same after the next updates that Samsung will bring.
On the Note9, the camera has undergone some changes, and the photos are a little flowery for a while. I couldn’t understand why, but clearly something has changed in the software. I hope this does not happen with the Galaxy Z Flip as well. Last but not least, it should be mentioned that a new Android 10 update came in last week on Z Flip, and now the YouTube app is very well optimized. We will definitely see more changes as there are customer feedback and more long term testing.
