The Ministry of Justice proposes to the Romanian Government the release of Tudorel Toader from the position of member of the Venice Commission.
“Following consultations with the Prime Minister of Romania, and the implications of the ECtHR Decision in the Kovesi v. Romania case (application no. 3594/19), regarding the credibility of the Romanian Government’s commitment to the independence of the Prosecutors and respect for the rule of law, the Ministry of Justice will submit to the Prime Minister the proposal that the Government of Romania send to the Venice Commission the request to apply the legal provisions of the Commission regarding Mr. Tudorel Toader, respectively, his removal from office as a member of the Venice Commission.

We specify the fact that the mandate of Mr. Tudorel Toader within the Venice Commission was extended in 2018, during the exercise of the mandate of the Minister of Justice, ”is shown on the website of the Ministry of Justice.
