Hundreds of people protested again on Saturday in the Capital against the restrictions imposed by the authorities to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The protesters initially gathered in the University Square, from where they marched and then protested in the Victoriei Square, in the Government and later in the Parliament.
- “Down with the mask”, “Freedom”, “We do not want air with the portion”, “Down with the terrorists who lead us”, were the messages of the protest participants.
The protesters arrived with tricolor flags, vuvuzelas, saucepans and other dishes. Most of them did not wear masks and did not keep their distance. They shouted “Down with the mask”, “Freedom” and displayed banners with messages such as “Down with the terrorists who guide us”, “We don’t want air with the portion”, “Your indifference ignites our Romania”.
After 6.40 pm, the protesters marched towards Victoriei Square, where they were joined by a column of members and supporters of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), including its leader, MP George Simion.
The gendarmes handed out information brochures to the protesters on the need to comply with the anti-Covid-19 protection regulations.
The protests with a smaller number of participants were organized on Saturday night in some cities of the country such as Constanta, Cluj-Napoca and Deva.

Representatives of the Gendarmerie and Police told the media that so far no fines have been imposed. “We are currently resorting to dialogue,” they said.

Several hundred protesters gathered again on Saturday afternoon in the University Square of the capital to express their dissatisfaction with the restrictions imposed to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The mobilization for this protest was made on social networks, and those who launched the call for participation propose the organization of the “biggest protest in recent years,” reports News.ro. “It will be the protest that will save us from the dictatorship,” they said.
The protesters use the fountain in the University Square as a stage, as some of them brought speakers and sound systems. Some protesters waved the tricolor, others used vuvuzas, while other protesters, who have jobs or businesses in the HoReCa field, carried pans and pots.
Many of the participants do not wear a mask or stay away from others.
The gendarmes mobilized to guarantee public order in this event, they distributed brochures to those present in the market with messages on the observance of measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The protesters chanted “Freedom!”, “Down with the traitors.” At the time of transmitting this news, they prepare to march towards Victoriei Square.
Also in Constance, several dozen people gathered on the plateau in front of the headquarters of the Prefecture.
