British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was vaccinated Friday night with a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine produced by AstraZeneca, a day after the European Medicines Agency declared that this vaccine is safe and effective, reports Agerpres.
“I felt practically nothing,” said the 56-year-old conservative leader, who was vaccinated at St. John’s Hospital. Thomas in London, where he spent three days in intensive care in April 2020, when he was ill with COVID-19.
Johnson called on the British to get vaccinated because it is “the best for you, your family and everyone else.”
After the European Medicines Agency (EMA) concluded that the Swedish-British group AstraZeneca’s vaccine is “safe and effective”, several European countries resumed vaccination after suspending it for fear of side effects, especially blood clots.
The UK has administered more than 26 million first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 660,276 doses were injected on Thursday alone.
