The mayor of Constanța, Vergil Chiţac, says that almost 120,000 files from the City Council were thrown away, the majority coming from the Department of Heritage and Cadastre.

“Has anyone tried to erase the traces of 20 years of red administration?” Chitac writes on Facebook.

He says that the documents were found by chance by local councilors Mihai Ochiuleț and Teodor Popa, being about 119,909 files, 1,049 shelves, 1,016 volumes, 65 packages and 124 boxes that had to be melted.

“Most of the documents come from the Department of Heritage and Cadastre of the mayor’s office. You guessed it, they were related to the land … Of the 823 shelves at this address, some 746 reintroduction measures were ordered in the active archive fund. In other words, these documents did not meet the legal conditions for scrapping, some of them even had to be kept permanently ”, says the mayor of Constanța.
